Our dojo was established on November 11th, 2004 as a Westminster-California Branch of the World Shorinji Kempo Organization.

INSTRUCTORS PROFILE
Name: Pankaj Rastogi

Career: Pankaj grew up in New York and started studying Shorinji Kempo as a young adult.  He fell in love with Shorinji Kempo’s ever challenging techniques, philosophy and application.   After obtaining his 2nd degree black belt and his Electrical Engineering degree from University of Buffalo, New York, he decided to pursue his career as an engineer in Tokyo/Osaka, Japan for Panasonic.  Pankaj’s dream of working as an Engineer in Japan while being able to practice Shorinji Kempo not only came true but was a decade long of challenges and fun.   While in Japan, Pankaj practiced Shorinji Kempo under the guidance of Matsuda Sensei and Maki Sensei which led him to further advance his interest in Japanese language, culture and philosophy.  Pankaj obtained his 5th Degree black belt in 2002 at World Shorinji Kempo Headquarter in Shikoku, Japan.  

In 2002 Pankaj and his family were transferred back to Panasonic’s Research & Development division located in Orange County, California.  Since being in the USA Pankaj had great opportunity to practice with a multitude of great teachers; Onaka sensei, Uekuma sensei, Miyata Sensei, Penson Sensei and late Kuramoto sensei.   Pankaj started the Westminster-California Branch in 2004 and continues to teach many of the founders (So Doshin) basic, intermediate, advanced techniques and philosophy which result in improving the quality of the person and the community in which we all live in.

OUR MEMBERS
Currently we have 35 Students ranging from 5 to 60 years old with a wide variety of professional talent and cultural backgrounds.  Everyone is welcome to join our practice sessions on Mondays and Thursdays. Let's enjoy learning Shorinji Kempo together! !
